Nicole Kidman highlights Monaco princess Grace Kelly in "Grace of Monaco"

Oscar winner Australian actress, singer, film producer, and humanitarian Nicole Kidman will play another Oscar winner Grace Kelly in "Grace of Monaco." The film is made focusing on Monaco princess Kelly attempts to save Monaco in 1961 when Monaco got in a heated debate with France, according to the Hollywood Reporter. At the time, French president Charles de Gaulle gave her husband Monaco's Prince Rainier III six months to reform the country's tax laws after long being regarded as a tax haven, Kelly stepped up to her role as princess.

"Grace of Monaco" will be helmed by "La Vie en rose" director Olivier Dahan. The screenplay, which was written by Arash Amel, landed on the 2011 Black List. According to the film's IMDB page, other actresses considered for the role include Jessica Chastain, Emily Blunt, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Monaghan and Jessica Biel.

Hollywood legend Grace Kelly is best known for her roles in films like "Rear Window," "Dial M for Murder," "To Catch a Thief" and "High Noon." She won a 1955 Oscar for her role in "The Country Girl."

Kelly and Prince Rainier III met at the Cannes Film Festival in April 1955 and it was suspected that the Prince was seeking a wife as a 1918 treaty dictated that he had to produce an heir or Monaco would revert to France. The prince came to the United States in December 1955 and after meeting with Kelly and her family, he proposed after three days. The press called their union "The Wedding of the Century."

Kelly and Rainier had three children together - Princess Caroline, 55, Prince Albert, 54, and Princess Stephanie, 47. The retired actress was killed in a car accident in 1982 in Monaco. Kidman, who won an Oscar for portraying Virginia Woolf in the 2003 film "The Hours", was also nominated for a 2011 Oscar for her role in "Rabbit Hole."

Kidman and her second husband, country star Keith Urban, welcomed their first child, daughter Sunday Rose, in 2008. Kidman also has two adopted children from her marriage to actor Tom Cruise - Isabella and Connor.

The 44-year-old actress will next star opposite Dermot Mulroney in "Stoker," which is slated for release later in the year. Nicole Kidman is really a good choice to portray Grace Kelly for Grace of Monaco!
